Lynn Felts
Felts' statements reads as the follows:
My career in art has been art education. I love to teach people to draw, paint and express themselves visually. My style has always been fairly quick, loose and Impressionistic. The subjects range from landscapes, to floras, to portraits of people and animals. Subjects need to be meaningful to me. The painting that I am holding in my photo is an acrylic of the Angel oak Tree on John’s Island off the coast of Charleston, SC. I did use a reference. However, a lot of my work is plein air; painting outdoors. Some of my favorite subjects are sunflowers, tulips and other flowers outdoors as well as lakes, old buildings, and bridges. I especially like the stone arch bridges of Cowley County, Kansas which are slowly going away through the force of nature or man. I have painted a good number of them but feel compelled to paint all the ones that are still standing. I paint portraits of animals for friends and family and I have painted a number of portraits of people. Portrait painting was one of the popular lessons I taught in my years at Winfield High School. The mediums I use are oil, acrylic, pastel and watercolor. I feel like there is so much I want to do now that I am retired. I paint or pastel or draw every day.
