Welcome

One of the oldest running art shows in Kansas is Russell’s Original Art Review started in 1969. The Russell Lions Club needed a project that would not duplicate or conflict with other clubs and their projects.

ROAR Art Show

Since 1969, the ROAR Show (Russell’s Original Art Review) has given Kansas artists the opportunity to show and sell their work as well as compete for prize money. Visitors last year viewed over 250 works of art by professional and amateur Kansas artists in categories including paintings in oil techniques, paintings in watercolor techniques, other two-dimension, sculpture, pastels, photography, computer generated or manipulated original composition, and ceramics.

ROAR Art Show 2023

The 2023 exhibition will be held at the 4-H Building on the Russell County Fairgrounds. The entries can viewed by the public October 13 & 14 from 9 AM until 9 PM and October 15 from 9 AM until 4 PM. Art media includes oil, watercolor, acrylic, sculpture, pastels, photography, ceramics, and computer generated works.

In 2022 the show had 162 amateur works and 171 professional works for a total of 338 entering. There were 109 artists from 35 different cities across Kansas showing at this years review.

Donation

Members of the Russell community volunteer over 500 hours of their time to organize and receive works, display works and promote the show to artists, educational institutions and the public. Prize money is raised from entry fees and private or corporate donations. The ROAR committee invites you to support this worthwhile endeavor.

The ROAR Show receives no government funds. Please support the arts by sending your donation made payable to the ROAR Show to P.O. Box 94, Russell, KS 67665, or hand it to a Committee Member. Thank you for your support.
